However, it should be known that protein is one of the most important nutrients needed by the body for its proper regulation and functioning. In simpler words, protein is a nutrient that is a must for a healthy body. Any internal or external damage caused to the body is repaired by protein. The nutrient is also responsible for supporting the immune system and to make a person feel well and happy. Protein does almost all the works at the cellular level. It transports messages carries out the instructions of DNA and fights, preserves, and repairs the cells of the body.

Protein shakes, bars, and powders contribute a large amount of protein. They come in a variety of types and flavors.

After a workout session, you effectively break down your muscles. This is when protein comes into the scene. You must have seen people drinking protein shakes or eating protein powders post workout. This is done to cure the broken muscles and enhance the effectiveness of the exercise. If you mix the protein with carbohydrates, it will become easier for your body to digest the protein and convert it into muscle mass.

Many people feel low in energy and get tired very early. Also, they do not get the desired muscle building even after a lot of strenuous workouts. This is because you might not be having enough protein in your food. The lower amount of protein cannot even repair the broken muscle fibers, let alone building of muscles. Make an effort to include more of protein-rich foods in your diet to get better and visible results.

Nails and hair are made up of, mostly, protein. Your body needs protein to build and repair damaged tissues and cells. Many enzymes, chemicals, and hormones are made up of protein. Protein is essential for building up of muscles, skin, blood, muscles, bones, and cartilages. It is a macronutrient. Hence, it is needed in a huge amount.

How Much Protein Sufficient?

According to the United States Department of Health and Human Services:

1. Three servings for a total of seven ounces every day is sufficient for teenage boys and active men.

2. Two servings for a total of five ounces every day is sufficient for children between 2 to 6 years, women, and older people.

3. Two servings for a total of six ounces every day is sufficient for teenage girls, active ladies, and moderately active men.
